I'd been playing the guitar for about a year on a steel string acoustic when I decided to start playing classical so I bought a classical nylon guitar along with this method book from progressive. I had other progressive series books and primers, but for the classical guitar this was the best.This book has about a hundred pages or so of quality lessons and excercises.The book is all musical notations and fingerstyle lessons.It doesn't contain any TAB lines.It also contains a fretboard guitar notes diagram and a music glossary at the end of the book.If you have a passion to learn classical guitar this is the book for you.

This comment is a little off. The deaf thing is a little overrated IMO. I don’t know about metallica cause they are hardly virtuosi, but any virtuoso musician would be able to play after losing their hearing. Theory knowledge and feel do not leave you just because you become deaf. If you are a master player, you shouldn’t have any problem performing (on a guitar) even without your hearing.

A real advanced player could feel if he’s played notes correctly or incorrectly. He wouldn’t have to hear it. He/She just wouldn’t be able to enjoy the piece aurally.

I’m talking composition, not regurgitation of physical movement already learned. Once one has a piece under their fingers, sure, loss of hearing can’t keep one from physically playing a piece. I believe, and this is true for me, that all guitarists (& players of other instruments) search aurally to create a new composition. Beethoven composed his 9th Symphony as a deaf man. How can you say that is overrated? Take 78 minutes out of your life to listen to the entire Symphony, not just Ode to Joy.
