I'd been playing the guitar for about a year on a steel string acoustic when I decided to start playing classical so I bought a classical nylon guitar along with this method book from progressive. I had other progressive series books and primers, but for the classical guitar this was the best.This book has about a hundred pages or so of quality lessons and excercises.The book is all musical notations and fingerstyle lessons.It doesn't contain any TAB lines.It also contains a fretboard guitar notes diagram and a music glossary at the end of the book.If you have a passion to learn classical guitar this is the book for you.

Trevor,a very beautiful piece and a nice transisiton from previous venues you have offered over the years. This one reminds me so much of Mexico. Question though, I noticed that on the final strum you used your thumb vs the fingers…in most of the spanish pieces I play I end up using the three fingers in a downward strum…am I missing a technique that I should be working ?

Thanks for the nice comments! In answer to your question…yes! You should be working the “thumb strum” into your technique repertoire. It gives you another “weapon in your arsenal” as it were in terms of ploying a piece more musically or adding more/different color to a piece. The more techniques you master the more professionally you can perform a piece is how I’d sum it up.

Seeing how you have managed this guitar with quite large fingers, gives me hope…I have similar fingers/ hand and gave up on the electric guitar because of the small frets…I now have several classical guitars, which I like to play (attempt)…I am just beginner to intermediate level, self taught…I know, I will not reach expert level, but that doesn’t matter because it is the enjoyment of the experience that matters….
