DAddario Set Pro-Arte Clr/Silver Hard

Pro-Arte strings are  the worlds best selling and DAddarios premium classical guitar strings. All Pro-Arte treble strings are sorted by a sophisticated computer-controlled laser machine which performs diameter/tension measurements and quality checks, insuring true sounding, precise trebles in every set. Pro-Arte basses are wound using silver plated copper on a multi-filament nylon core.

Saverez Traditional trebles are made of rectified nylon which is characterized by a distinctive unpolished finish. This grittiness contributes to a lessening of the high overtones. Because of their texture, the treble strings are unusually controllable with regard to vibrato and stability. The characteristics of their tone make their pitch particularly clear and true. The basses are on the warm and soft side, and their tone is strong overall.
These are my favourite strings for the best sound from my guitar.

Progressive Classical Guitar Method: For Beginner to Intermediate Students [Book 1]

I'd been playing the guitar for about a year on a steel string  acoustic when I decided to start playing classical so I bought a classical nylon guitar along with this method book from progressive. I had other progressive series books and primers, but for the classical guitar this was the best. This book has about a hundred pages or so of quality lessons and excercises. The book is all musical notations and fingerstyle lessons. It doesn't contain any TAB lines. It also contains a fretboard guitar notes diagram and a music glossary at the end of the book.If you have a passion to learn classical guitar this is the book for you.

    1) Yes, try and google some acoustic guitars and som nylon and you will soon be able to se the difference :-) also, youtube it and you will hear that the acoustic has much more of a metallic sound!

    2) That is how most classical (read: nylon)-acoustic guitar-players rest their guitar. mainly cause the classical acoustic guitar often has a smaller body and a shorter neck :-)

Yeah he explained things well enough, he’s just not very articulate (guitar playing-wise).

I wasn’t really trying to get your attention, twas just an offhand comment. I appreciate the stuff you guys do. How about some more advanced rhythmic acoustic lessons though? Double strums and the like. Some alternate tuning stuff would be cool too.

    Stay fresh.

the right hand position is wrong !, the thumb should try to be more horizontally, avoiding the up-down movement of your index and middle fingers, thats basic on classical guitar…

    I studied classical …
I studied classical guitar for a while. This guy is just playing by ear, he’s not doing the proper tech as someone else noticed.
Class. guitar requires you to read music. The low E is 3 lines below the staff and the higher notes go several lines above the staff. It’s challenging. You must read not only the note but also which fret and string it’s played on. Learn to read music before tackling class-guitar!
Plenty good videos of classical guitar on YT. “Recuerdo del Alhambra” especially

  • TenacMarke says:

    I still study …
I still study cllassical guitar infact I go to classical music school :) it’s not true that someone who wants to play classical guitar has to read notes :) though he/she must learn to read if he’s aiming on music school but you can play classical pieces by ear it’s just a matter of choice if someone wants to play little classical but by the way, don’t let the notes scare you :) it’s not that had as it looks hehe :)

  • Khamomil says:

    You’re kidding …
You’re kidding right? The easiest pieces for beginners are still written in traditional notation therefore reading is ESSENTIAL.. You don’t need to go to school but it helps to have a teacher and a classically trained teacher will show you proper hand position. A lot of chords in classical guitar cannot be played by ear bcause many are not in the root position.

It’s true that classical training in guitar helps a lot for expression and technique as someone said.

  • TenacMarke says:

    I don’t know why …
I don’t know why are you trying to fight :) I didn’t mention anything about playing like real classical player or something like that, I just mentioned that if someone likes the sound of classical guitar or just likes playing classical songs its not rule that you need to play some classical song the way it is written Some one is playing guitar not profesionaly but just for fun and where is a problem if he learns song by ear because he LIKES it and he plays it for him and his kids or relatives :)

  • Kumoxi says:

    Good music is made …
Good music is made by ears, not by notes.

  • Khamomil says:

    Are you saying that …
Are you saying that all the music that has been written is garbage, or are you saying that a good musician needs a good ear? Of course a good ear, and ear training are necessary, but the music that was written needs to be played the way it was written, not faked, out of respect for the composer and the public.

  • Kumoxi says:

    A good musician …
A good musician needs a good ear, you are totally right. I get what your saying, though, but I just think, that a musician is a better musician if he has GREAT ears and no knoowledge about theory, than turned around.=]
I still get what your saying, though.

  • Khamomil says:

    Ah we’re coming to …
Ah we’re coming to an agreement! Some of the best musicians in Blues, Jazz, Rumba and also popular singers, couldn’t read music and didn’t know music theory yet they had a great ear and made chords by instinct. Check out for ex Django Reinhardt, the genius of Gypsy jazz and get your mind blown away.

Conversely classically trained musicians are unable to improvise. That is because the approaches are different. In classical music you don’t study harmony because you aren’t required to improvise.

  • Kumoxi says:

    Thanks Bud!! You …
Thanks Bud!! You sound like a guitar god to me:P

btw. i really like your modded Segway!
    Thumbs up,
    cheers mate

  • ariades says:

I just have to ask. …
I just have to ask. Do any of you know what the song played at the beginning is? I know I’ve heard it quite a few times, and it would be nice to learn it.
