The arrangement is by J.W.Duarte (slightly modified). I intentionally play the prelude at a little slower tempo. I often feel some players (even on cello) are “running” so fast that the charm of this music is left far behind!

I put off learning this song for quite a few years as I knew it would be an undertaking. I started teaching it to a lesson a few years back but unfortunately he gave up on the it.
I had a request for it again in early April 2007, this time from a number of students so I finally tackled it head on and finished it in a few short weeks. Surprisingly enough it wasn’t as difficult as I expected. To make this song easier to learn you have to practice it in smaller sections (phrases). Of course it helps if you have already done some finger picking previously.

Eduardo Díaz playing The Beatles Yesterday Composed by Paul McCartney. Its basically Larry Beekman arrangement transposed to the key of G, I took some from ideas from guitarist Gabriel Rodriguez.
“Yesterday” is a pop song originally recorded by The Beatles for their 1965 album Help!. According to the Guinness Book of Records, “Yesterday” has the most cover versions of any song ever written. The song remains popular today with more than 3,000 recorded cover versions, the first hitting the United Kingdom top 10 three months after the release of Help!. Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) asserts that it was performed over seven million times in the 20th century alone. The song was not released as a single in the UK at the time of the US release, and thus never gained number 1 single status in that country. However, “Yesterday” was voted the best song of the 20th century in a 1999 BBC Radio 2 poll of music experts and listeners.
