In this classical guitar lesson, we take a look at some of the common and not so common left hand techniques used in Francisco Tarrega’s “Lagrima”. Please see Part 1 for the Right Hand Lesson.
Some of the concepts covered in the lesson are -
reducing “squeaks” when sliding fingers
left hand preparation
barre technique
effortless shifting
I hope you get some ideas from this lesson for your own playing.

Free Music / Tab – “Deck the Halls with Variations” for classical guitar
The free music / tab for this piece is available at

I was asked for this arrangement from a few people last year, so I’ve finally gotten around to notating it. It’s from my “Classical Guitar at Christmas” album which I recorded in the great year of 1993.
This solo arrangement was originally conceived as a duet, so some of the parts are difficult to master. Feel free to adjust it, add to it, subtract from it, and make it your own.
I’ll try to post a video lesson on this as well as “The First Noel” in the next few days.
Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2009 to all.
Sincerely,
Kevin Gallagher
